Hi y’all! I’m Kelly, the founder and maker of all things Flour & Ash.  

I’ve always been a baker and biscuit enthusiast. Growing up my mom made biscuits most Sundays as a treat. There’s something about combining a handful of ingredients into something delicious that has always felt like magic to me. I wanted to share that love with my toddler but as any parent can tell you, baking with littles sounds fun in theory but usually usually ends in a flour explosion and/or tears. I wanted a way to make baking something tricky accessible to families, non-bakers, and even disabled people like myself who struggle to have the stamina to make a complicated recipe.  

Most baking is a science but biscuits and scones are more of an art. You have to have a feel for how to cut in the butter, making sure to work fast to keep it cold but also distribute it well but not too well…it’s stressful! And even the most experienced biscuit maker will randomly make a dud batch they can’t explain. But in my spare time looking through biscuit recipes (as one does) I discovered a trick in an old recipe where you didn’t use butter at all and they still came out light and delicious. So I tested recipe after recipe until the Easiest Ever Biscuit Mix was born! I started making it for my friends, giving it to their partners to cook on Mother’s Day or Christmas morning. They started asking for more to give to friends, as teacher presents, or gifts for coworkers and that’s how Flour & Ash was born. 

At its heart, Flour & Ash is designed to making baking more joyful. I hope these mixes help you make memories with your loved ones the way it has helped me with my son who is five and now loves baking with Mama.
